Shafallah Center for people with disabilities organized the autism forum in wifaq center lecture hall  under the slogan "for a world that empowers people with autism to reach their full potential", with the participation of several concerned authorities in the state, including the Qatar Biomedical Research Institute of Hamad bin Khalifa University, Mada center, Al Maha Center for specialized care for children, the Qatari Association for people with autism and the autism parents’ platform. 

The forum aims to create a platform for the exchange of knowledge and experiences on various aspects of autism spectrum disorder, focusing on modern technologies in the field of sensory integration.

Mrs. Maryam Saif Al Suwaidi - Executive Director of the Shafallah Center, stated that the forum seeks to enhance cooperation between concerned authorities, improve the medical environment for people with autism, as well as create an educational environment to integrate them with the rest of the community, and exchange experiences between researchers and academics on various aspects of autism spectrum disorder, strategies to alleviate its symptoms and techniques of dealing with them. She said that the state is working to provide the highest degree of integrated medical care for children with autism, working to detect it at an early stage. She pointed out that the participants in the forum will present a summary of their experience with a review of the most important research and studies related to autism, in addition to discussing the mechanisms of cooperation between the participants in the forum to integrate and empower people with autism.

In this context, Al Suwaidi emphasized. Those responsible for the health sector are working to provide the highest levels of comprehensive health service in accordance with the highest international quality levels, to preserve the health of the individual and society, in addition to seeking the integration of Health Services at the level of the public and private sectors.

The executive director of Shafallah Center pointed out that the center provides special education services and comprehensive rehabilitation services for people with autism. An individual educational plan is prepared for each affiliate, which contains educational and skill goals that are prioritized for each affiliate individually.

In another context, Mrs. Maryam Al Suwaidi said that Shafallah Center seeks to develop the capabilities of the enrolled members to enable them to overcome the challenges of special and behavioural education facing them and to prepare them to reach the maximum possible adaptation to their communities and rely on themselves, through developing their abilities and providing them with skills in various aspects such as the social and behavioural aspect, the academic aspect of career, the aspects of language and communication, the aspect of daily life skills, the aspect of motor skills, the aspect of mobility, health and safety, playing skills, and other skills provided under the umbrella of a reliable and Universal methodology of Applied Behaviour Analysis, which is one of the most important Methodologies that have proven their efficiency in the training and rehabilitation of people with autism.

The executive director of Shafallah Center said that the autism department at the center provides various special education, rehabilitation and skill services to its affiliates based on a set of reliable and scientific evidence-based curricula, which keep pace with the latest updates in the rehabilitation of people with autism.

As confirmed by Mrs. Maryam Saif Al-Suwaidi-Executive Director of the Shafallah Center. The national plan for autism is based on the Qatar National Vision 2030 in ensuring the continuation of a decent life for the people of Qatar, generation after generation, and the third national development strategy 2024-2030, launched by the state, confirmed The state of Qatar is committed to improving the lives of the most groups with  priority in receiving care, to ensure that they receive support and opportunities to participate actively in society, and to expand Social Centers for people with disabilities, pointing out that the Ministry of Social Development and family and the relevant authorities in the state have made great efforts in preparing a comprehensive and integrated national plan to identify the needs, orientations and aspirations that will reach to achieve the desired goals and support all categories of society, including people with disabilities, including those with autism.
